RBC News

Hello Gold River!

It has been almost a year now since I personally have been making the drive up here, and I wanted to first start off by saying how much I have enjoyed the hospitality of the entire town.  As the weather is just starting to get better, it is such a beautiful drive with the water, snow covered mountains, various wildlife ect.,  it makes me really appreciate where we live!  On that note, my morning routine always involves stopping in at the last gas station in town to fill up, and check over the car before I make the long drive.  We all know once you’re past Campbell River, there is no cell phone service or gas station on the way.  I thought to myself on the drive up, how much money and time we have saved our clients!  Depending on the weather and traffic, your drive to and from Campbell River is anywhere between 2-3 hours, and your gas bill depending on your vehicle is anywhere between $35-100+ for a single trip.  I take great pride in the fact that RBC sends me up to Gold River to help out, and the thousands upon thousands of dollars we have saved the community in mileage, and not to mention the time!  I think it’s a great reminder of the services that we offer, not only being able to open ANY type of bank product from community accounts, to multiple registered savings plans, but that we can save you a lot of money by saving you that drive to town.  When EVERY single other bank and credit union turned its back on this community, some of them not even returning a simple phone call, we provide you with a full banking compliment for your town and we want you to take advantage of this fantastic offer!

So I would like everyone to think about the entire offering of products that RBC brings to your community and all the financial services that we do offer.  I recently had a client do a review of their RRSP Mutual Funds with another institution.  It was a modest account, and it only made approximately $100 last year.  The client made two trips to Campbell River regarding administration of this account.  While the account was up around $100, the client spent well over that in gas just on the drive, effectively netting a ZERO return looking at the entire picture.  So not only could we have helped this client with service locally, but our comparative product was far superior, with a smaller annual fee which also saves the client money, a better return,  and it wouldn’t cost our client anything to rebalance an account into a safer product by avoiding any deferred service charges whatsoever! (our branch DOES NOT HAVE front-end or deferred-service charges on Mutual Funds like other investment brokerages do).

A recent review of our ATM usage suggests approximately 50% of people using our machine are not RBC clients.  You are paying approximately $3.00 in total charges every time you use this machine.. What are you paying those fees to that institution for? Why should withdrawing $20.00 cost you $23.00?  Are you driving all the way to Campbell River to make a deposit, business or personal, when you have a full service ATM in the Super Valu in Gold River??

Please come and see me, or book an appointment at 250 286 5510 and we can start saving you money and time!  Is anyone else from Campbell River or Courtenay/Comox driving up here to help you?

I look forward meeting more people, and one of these days I might even remember to bring my camera!
