Earth Hour Tonight

WWF is calling on Canadians to think about how we use and produce energy.

To create the best possible future for Canadians and for the planet, let’s stop wasting energy, and generate what we need from clean, renewable sources like wind and solar. Canada can be a world leader in clean energy. But the longer we wait, the more it will cost – both in dollars and environmental impact.

To show your support, turn your lights off tonight from 8:30 – 9:30pm.

Pet Groomer – now in Gold River!

Deborah Papp is new to Gold River and has been a certified pet groomer since 2000.

She offers full grooming to cats and dogs – in her home or yours.  She also clips nails, clean ears, expresses anal glands and is trained and certified in animal First Aid.

She has a Shih-Tzu named Samson, who is her therapy dog – he calms those that have grooming issues.  Her specialty is grooming and handling abused and/or neglected dogs, as well as those that have grooming issues caused by a bad groomer or grooming inexperience.

Deb does not use crates or confines in her grooming – she is very hands on and grooms one on one – no production line!  Deb says that her customers are not numbers, they have names, and kindness and respect are her motto’s.

Please call Deb at 283-9222 or email her at kismet256@hotmail.com to book an appointment.

Purchase a Brick to Support the Bears

If you’ve been following the Gold River Buzz for any length of time, you’ll remember at least two bear cubs who have been rescued from the Gold River area and transferred to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Association.

Since October 2010, the Centre has welcomed nine new bear cubs and more room is needed.  The NIWRS is now offering bricks for sale to help build an extension to the current Bear Enclosure.

Bricks are only $4.50 each.  Please visit the NIWRA website and click  the donate button on the left to donate.
