Several parents have asked Mr. Parkes for specific photos from the 27 NSOP trips they ran this year. One grandparent suggested he make and sell photo CDs and use the money toward the program next year. He thought this was a fantastic idea, so that’s what he’s going to do!

If you are interested in an NSOP photo CD, with well over 600 pictures, they are now on sale for $10. The quality of the photos is good enough to make sharp prints up to 18″ by 20″. The CD will have ALL the pictures and videos from the program.

Head Bay Road Closure Notice

Just an FYI that Head Bay Road between Gold River and Tahsis will be closed on June 4th for the Great Walk.

No vehicles will be allowed through until the Walk is complete.

Craigslist Scam

Nootka Sound RCMP would like the public to be aware of a scam that a Gold River resident recently fell victim to.

The victim had listed a laptop for sale on the very popular Craigslist website. A potential buyer responded to the ad, a deal was made and it was agreed that the sale transaction would be made via PayPal.

The victim then received what they now know was a fake email (almost identical to one that PayPal would send), notifying them that the money had been transferred to their PayPal account. Thinking that the buyer had transferred the money, the victim then packaged up the laptop and sent it away to the buyer’s address.

In reality, the scammer had not transferred any funds via Paypal – they only made it appear that they did with the fake notification email.

In this type of situation, neither PayPal or Canada Post are able to offer any assistance.

Super Valu and Brad Unger have been asked by the Bergquist family to coordinate the refreshments for the memorial service on Saturday.

Brad is asking that if anyone is wishing to contribute to the refreshments table that they call him at the store (250-283-2615) to let him know what they wish to bring so we can ensure there won’t be too much of any one thing.
