GRSC Carnival a Huge Hit!

Via Sheila Bugar:

What an awesome night watching the skating production of “Once Upon A Time” presented by the Gold River Skating Club! Of course I’m partial because my daughter participated but really, this is one of the many reasons why I love Gold River!! Where else can your child perform in their own version of “Disney On Ice”.

We realize why this event is only run every 2 years as the amount of work, choreography, practice and preparation that goes into it is enormous!! Besides the professional coaching, teaching and choreography skills of our own Skate Canada Coach Debbie Erickson, there are a multitude of other skilled, talented and very giving parents, grandparents and friends who put hours into this event to make it so wonderful.

Looking around the arena at all the people attending was really overwhelming. It brought tears to my eyes to see the community come together to support our kids. The pride I felt as a parent was equal to the pride I felt for the skating club as a whole. An excellent show of sportsmanship, teamwork and talent! What a great job!

Gold River Skating Club News

Registrations are still being accepted for the season!  It’s carnival year so that means more fun for your children!

Canskate is the first stages of skating where your child will learn key elements to get them comfortable on the ice. As these elements are learned and your child improves, there is opportunity to move up into Starskate, Competitions, Dance and Dryland Training.

It’s great fitness and a lot of fun!

Help is always needed especially this year as we prepare props, costumes and routines for our carnival.  If you are interested in registering your child or you would like to help out with carnival preparations please contact Anita Lawrence at 283-2263 or Dawn Pitt at 283-7573.

The Bottle Drive was a great success with all hockey players and skaters coming out to lend a hand.  Thanks Gold River for all your help and contributions!

Our annual Magazine Drive is underway so if you would like to support the club and take out a magazine subscription you can contact Anita or Dawn as well.

The skaters will be selling chocolates & almonds very soon door to door so have your twoonies ready!
