Lego & Literacy

The Gold River Literacy Society will once again be running its LEGO AND LITERACY program.

This FREE program will take place on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15pm from April 11 – May 9, 2012.

Elementary school children can have a snack, listen to a story, and build with Lego.

Sparks is a program through Girls Guides of Canada for 5 and 6 year old girls (Kindergarten and Grade 1) and Brownies is for 7-9 year old girls (Gr. 2 and 3). As part of the Girl Guide program, girls will participate in 8 sessions of imaginative activities and projects, develop creative skills and outdoor know-how, have fun and make new friends.

1^st Gold River Unit SPARKS and BROWNIES will have a registration and first meeting April 2^nd!

When: Monday, 4:30-5:30 pm

Where: RWESchool Multi-purpose room

Who: Danielle Lapointe and Katrina Kornylo (Guider leaders)

Cost: $58.00 cash or cheque (made to Girl Guides of Canada). If finances are a challenge, payment options are available.

GRSS Boy’s Basketball Tournament

Gold River Secondary School Boy’s Basketball team is hosting the Single A North Island finals.

There will be 4 visiting teams: Port Hardy Senior Secondary, North Island Senior Secondary (Port McNeill), Campbell River Christian School, and Dwight International (Shawnigan Lake). There will be 10 games played starting Friday Feb 17th at noon and ending Saturday Feb 18th.
