Gold River’s Got Talent on Friday night was a hit with participants from all age groups, and Saturday was a fun filled family day in the park.

I was contacted by Dave Kornylo to help find monitors for checkpoint #4 during the Great Walk on Saturday June 2nd.

The person in charge of that checkpoint is in the hospital and it’s a checkpoint that counts and records all the people going through.  They already have two people but they desperately need at least two to four more people.  It would involve getting to the checkpoint before 3am (as the Walk starts at 4am) and staying until the last walker has gone through which could be around 10am or later.  (Volunteers can camp out there with a trailer as well if they like!)

Tomorrow kicks off with a free pancake breakfast at the Legion Hall starting at 8:00am.  The parade will begin at 11:00am.  Floats and those in the parade should meet at the School Board Office by 10:15am.  Children are encouraged to decorate their bikes and join in the fun!  (They can start at the School Board Office with the rest of the parade, or do a shorter route & join the parade at the GR Chalet.)

Following the parade is the “Party in the Park” (Nimpkish) from 12noon -3:00pm.  Bounce-a-rama’s, face painting, fish pond, free hot dogs and hamburgers!  If you are entering the Chili & Apple Pie Contest, please bring your goods down to the field at noon and look for the contest booth.  The Dunk Tank will also be there – contestants so far are:  Mrs. Fehr, Mr. Mudge, Mr. Lapointe, Miss Watt, Mrs. Wilson and Sgt. Fiddler.  Only $1 per ball!

Saturday evening there will be a live band for the Gold River Days Dance at the Legion! (Tickets are free, but you must pick up in advance at the Legion) Dance begins at 8:00pm.  Prizes for best costumes!

Remember to bring your own lawn chairs, blankets etc., and please note that dogs will not be permitted in Nimpkish Park during the festivities.
