I may be related to that Morris McNally guy; I found him while researching a trip to the Island. I want to do some Kayaking out of Port Hardy. I hope to visit y'all this summer.....see ya ......Joe

Hi there, have been in GR lots of times as my Father-in-law Robert Addison lived there for years until Shirley passed away and my brother-in-law and his beautiful girlfriend live there still!! I have just heard that a mother bear and cub were killed this afternoon on Gold River. I think this is at least the 5th black bears killed in Gold River this summer. Is there a program here to relocate these animals out into the woods, like many communities have? For example, it is my understanding Port McNeill and many others have a "3 strikes" policy. Bears are trapped, tagged and transported far away from town. Only on the 3rd appearance are they destroyed. Black bears are all around us, and are bound to come into town occasionally. They could be frightened away, or captured and transported to wild areas. This would be a great and humane way to spend whatever funds Gold River has to allocate. Love the site! This is a great way to keep up to date on what's happening in our community. I have noticed there have been several missing pets in our town, and it saddens me to see this. I can't help but wonder (and worry) if they had been found or not. I was wondering if you could notify us when a pet has been found. That would be very much appreciated!Thank-You! :)

Over the last 3 months we have been in and out of the Gold River area and received many letters in Support of having a Shuttle Service run from Gold River to Campbell River. We have also been asked about putting a TAXI Service in town. Now that the Shuttle is in place and ready to go--nobody calls to come out. The Taxi idea seems to have faded as well I feel? Please forward any comments or replies to my email address at 287taxi@telus.net This all takes many hours of paperwork and meetings to be put into place. If the interest has faded then I can stop pushing so hard. Thank you for your input in this matter.
