Yesterday, the Gold River Cat Society has had to deal with two kitten tragedies- a little one was found down the bank of the highway just this side of the bridge and is probably the only surviving member of a tossed litter; the other was a report of a distressed kitten on the street that someone “put in a bag and took to the village.” Upon enquiry of the Village office, no one apparently has taken the kitten in to them, meaning it was probably thrown away.

After being in operation for over a year and having had a lot of publicity, I cannot fathom why people behave this callously when they know the Cat Society is here. CALL US, please, if you have a unwanted litter or if you find a cat or kitten in need of assistance. We have a website (www.grcs.ca), an email address (goldrivercatsociety [at] gmail [dot] com), and links from other websites, including the Buzz. Our phone number is 250-283-7606.

There is no excuse for throwing away ANY kittens. We will even pay to have your cats spayed/ neutered if you cannot afford it. Just let us know if you need help.
