In anticipation of my trip to Puerto Vallarta in September, we phoned our friend Nacho (who lives in PV) last night. (If you’ve read the Buzz for awhile you’ll remember Nacho from this past Christmas.)
He’s very excited we’re coming, and of course wanted to know all our flight information so he can pick us up at the airport. (Nacho’s the best taxi driver – always stops for cold cerveza!)
He and the hubby got talking and Nacho asked about the cost of laptops here in Canada. (He says they are “too essspensive” in Mexico.) We told him probably about 6000 pesos for a cheap one (about $500 Canadian) and poor Nacho had himself a Mexican heart attack! (Keep in mind that the DAILY minimum wage in Mexico is almost $3 less than our HOURLY minimum wage.) He asked if we could instead try to find a “laptop usado” (used) for his teenage son Alexis. Best Buy has a netbook (Mini laptop) on sale right now for 279$ …I have one & it’s great for internet surfing & stuff, Basically the only difference is it does NOT have a disk drive but has many USB ports… Hope this helps
